Our older model rental cars are for Melbourne metro use only and our late and current model cars can be taken anywhere in Victoria and Gold Coast. Cheaper Car Rentals can provide car hire and car rental to suit everyone’s budget. We are an independent car rental company that has been specialising in cheap car rental and cheap car hire since 1981 and we pride ourselves on offering friendly service.
As an independent operator, we value your business by providing great value rental cars and offering older model, late model and current model cars for hire. All our rental cars are serviced and maintained by licensed vehicle testers and come with full RACV roadside assistance free of charge for extra peace of mind.
Our older model rental cars are between 8 and 20 years old and are perfect for long term rental around the Melbourne metro area, particularly if you are in between cars or if your car is out of action. This is a cheap car rental at its best.

Renting a car is a cost effective way to travel and explore the beautiful landscape of Melbourne. Cheaper Car Rentals has a range of affordable cars that will suit anyone’s budget. From Small Car Hire from $35.00 per Day to medium or larger Cars from $55 per day.
Payment of all fees is to be made at the commencement of the hire by either credit card or cash. On booking we charge a minimum $200 bond which is refunded at the end of the rental and must be paid by debit/credit card. This bond guarantees your booking will be held for you.
All car rentals come with daily km allowance. This amount is cumulative meaning if you take a car for a week with 100kms of travel per day you have 700km of travel included in your rental. Should your kilometre usage be in excess of this, a charge of 33c per extra kilometre will be incurred when you return the vehicle and settle your account.
If you need to more kilometres than this, you have the option of upgrading your rental at the time of booking.
You will need a valid driver’s licence and a credit or debit card in your name.
Some branches may allow debit card payments, but conditions apply. Contact us to confirm availability.
Additional charges may apply if the car is returned after the agreed time. Let us know in advance if you need to extend.
